Chopper Twirls Uncontrollably into Palm Groves at Popular Southern California Beach
An aircraft hovering over a popular southern California beach abruptly commenced twirling uncontrollably, finally descending rapidly and smashing into a cluster of palm fronds as spectators looked on.
Videos uploaded on the internet depict the helicopter starting to spin near the shoreline then falling near the border of the shore, where it ends up lodged between palm trees and a staircase close to the coastal road.
Emergency Response Update
The Huntington Beach fire department said five persons were taken to hospital including a pair who were in the aircraft and were “rescued from the debris” following the crash on that day.
Three individuals on the street were hurt. Specifics on their condition were not yet released.
What led to the incident was not yet disclosed.
