Discover Twenty-Nine Fresh Game Cards from Magic's TMNT Set (Featuring a Commander-Style Deck!)

Everyone's beloved pizza-loving heroes are coming to Magic: The Gathering. The well-known TCG's publisher, the game's creators, unveiled a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a exclusive panel hosted at New York Comic Con. Is this a exciting addition or simply another Universes Beyond marketing move? Let you be the judge.

Take a look here at everything announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, along with some useful context. All items listed below releases on March 6th, 2026, except for one item — the Pizza Bundle drops a few weeks later on March 27.

Magic x TMNT: Core Set Reveals

Before diving into the many unique products and bundles available, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion unveiled by the developers. Play boosters for the expansion are set at $6.99 each, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per booster.

Let’s explore a few surprising features. First, a new gameplay mechanic named Sneak Attack, which is a riff on the pre-existing Ninjutsu, where players can play big creatures into the battlefield when an attacking creature isn’t blocked. The key change in this case is that this new ability can apply to non-creature spells too. Wizards also took the opportunity to refine the mechanic a little (Sneak is treated as casting, unlike Ninjutsu). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but chances are players will encounter Sneak in upcoming expansions from now on.

“If we ever were to return to Kamigawa, we might use the original ability since that's where it originated and it is iconic of that world,” a senior designer explained. “However in other settings, since the mechanics are smoother and Sneak is what's going to be Standard-legal, it’s probable we’ll use Sneak.”

That second variant of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai, is among four special cards with unique artwork designed exclusively for the set by TMNT co-creator the co-creator.

Oh, and, should you be surprised by the rules text on Turtles Forever card, which allows playing game cards that aren't in your main deck, many players were. But as per Wizards, that's now a legal card in all formats of Magic.

In any case, below are the highly unusual full-art lands from the TMNT set:

Following Wizards of the Coast's current policy, all these cards are all legal in Magic’s Standard play. Developers say they were careful to make sure the cards and mechanics worked smoothly with current Standard expansions like Edge of Eternities.

“I headed the development for 15 months and we were aware it was going to be in standard and what other sets were going to be near it in standard,” the designer commented. “We designed to make sure that they work well with some of those sets like Edge of Eternities.”

For example, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a blue-red archetype built around artifacts.

“They combine to provide the pieces for a fun Standard-legal deck,” he says.

Commander Deck: Turtle Power

After declining to design any pre-constructed Commander decks for the Spider-Man set and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, the company is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just one precon, but it includes six different legendary creatures that can serve as your commander based on how you combine them (five of the cards have a special partner ability named “Character Select” that allows starting with two commanders in the command area instead of just one). Take a look below:

This Commander deck is priced at $69.99, though the price may rise due to demand. Wizards told that it includes 43 new cards in total, which translates to an additional thirty-seven Turtle-themed cards in addition to the six legendary creatures pictured above. (Doing some rough math, that also means about 20 reprints if we assume the precon includes 37 land cards.)

How will the TMNT edition of Sol Ring look like? Fans must wait and find out.

Standard Bundle (Standard Edition)

Typically, Wizards is offering a bundle. This one costs $69.99 and contains the following:

  • Nine Play Boosters
  • Fifteen Traditional foil land cards
  • Fifteen Non-foil basic lands
  • Two helper cards
  • 1 Foil promotional card
  • One Large spindown life counter
  • One storage box

Pizza Bundle

This is a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, mostly in that it is packaged in what looks like a pizza delivery box. Each pizza-themed bundle is priced at $99.99 and comes with the items below:

  • 9 Play Boosters
  • One Collector Booster
  • 25 Non-foil pizza-themed lands
  • 5 Foil pizza-themed lands
  • Two Foil pizza bundle promo cards
  • 2 helper cards
  • 1 Large spindown life counter
  • One Card-storage box

For those curious what a “Pizza Bundle promo card” means, it’s basically a reprint of an older card featuring brand-new TMNT artwork. The team revealed one for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of Splinter adding toppings onto a pizza slice. There are six different Pizza Bundle promo cards in total.

This special bundle launches a few weeks after the core set on March 27, 2026.

Draft Night

This special bundle is designed for a four-player draft and is priced at $119.99. It includes:

  • Twelve Standard Boosters (the perfect amount a group of four to play draft)
  • 1 Collector Booster (aka, the prize for winning)
  • Ninety Regular basic lands (to build your deck)
  • Ten Regular token cards
  • One Draft insert (a one-sheet guide to drafting this expansion)

Cooperative Play Set

Lastly, Wizards are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to create Magic products specifically for new players. Here, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of decks that let you and a friend team up against a “Boss” deck that plays automatically.

The general idea is that each Boss card gives special abilities to the creatures contained in the boss deck. The Boss automatically plays one other card each turn, and you’ll start off fighting {one Boss|
