Marnus Labuschagne Dropped from Australian One-Day International Squad to Face Team India
The Australian selectors have left out Labuschagne from the three-game ODI series versus India, as high-performing Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw getting a surprise call-up.
Recent Form Lead to Exclusion
The right-hander was left out from the ODI side following being dismissed for one in each of his two innings during the top-end series against South Africa in August. The right-hander has a top score of 47 in his last 10 ODI innings.
The batsman has played 68 one-day internationals and amassed 1,871 ODI runs at an batting average of 34.64 runs per dismissal, but will now focus on earning a Test team comeback in time for the Ashes starting in Perth on 21 November.
Renshaw's Return and Other Squad Changes
There have been indications of a improvement in form with a score of 160 for Queensland in the domestic first-class competition this week, while Renshaw scored a hundred for the Bulls in the same game against Tasmania.
Renshaw could to make his first white-ball appearance in the forthcoming series against India after his last inclusion in an ODI squad in 2022.
He has played 14 Tests with the most recent appearance in India in 2023 but is also hoping for a Test return as Australia look for a answer to their top-order woes.
